  2.         Release Note on Elite 2864 Version 0.01        May 16, 1995

  4.  1. Please press the D/V button and turn on the Elite 2864 to do a hardware
  5.     reset on the modem and have the modem load in the factory default
  6.     settings and run a power on self-test at 57600 bps DTE speed and
  7.     28800 bps DCE speed.
  8.  
  9.  2. Please use ATI1 to check the modem's version. Firmware version 0.xx is
  10.     used for ß-test. If the a date code is displayed, the version is prior to
  11.     0.01 or it is just a temporary test version. The formal commercial
  12.     version will start from version 1.00.
  13.  
  14.  3. If the date code is prior to 5/15/95, please use ATUPX or ATUPA to update
  15.     the firmware to version 0.01. The firmware file is E2864.001. Refer
  16.     to chapter 3 of the 2864 series modem user's manual for procedures of
  17.     updating the firmware.
  18.  
  19.  4. Available FAX command set :  a> Class-6 ZFAX
  20.                                  b> Class-2 FAX
  21.                                  c> Class-2.0 FAX
  22.  
  23.  5. For fax printing feature, please refer to 2864 series modem user's manual.
  24.     Be sure to issue "AT+FZT" command to test your printer speed. The
  25.     modem will adjust scan line time to fit your printer speed, and
  26.     this speed parameter will be saved in non-volatile memory. You don't
  27.     have to issue "AT+FZT" command again when you turn on the modem
  28.     next time.

  30.  6. Please refer to the chapter 4 of "2864 SERIES MODEM USER'S MANUAL"
  31.     for the new VOICE features.

  33.  7. The +VGT and +VGR command is ranged from 56 to 200 where the
  34.     number means a GAIN from -36dB to +36dB per 0.5dB step.
  35.     ( 56=-36dB, 128=0dB and 200=+36dB)
  36.     A value of 0 will make the modem to do "Automatic Digital Gain control".

  38.  8. The +VTD command is revised to :
  39.         AT+VTD=<dur>,<int>
  40.     where <dur> set the tone generation duration and <int> set
  41.     the interval for every comma in the +VTS command.
  42.     the units are 10msec and the default vale for <dur> is 50
  43.     and <int> is 7.

  45.  9. The +VDD command is revised to :
  46.     The range of <dds> is from 0 to 15 and the default value is 4.

  69.  3. EDR is implemented.  There are lots of differences compared with the U1496
  70.     series EDR.  The major improvement is: all DTMF tones, Fax calling tone,
  71.     and Data calling tone can be detected.
  72.     The S51 register is used to define the EDR setting as:
  73.         bits 0-1:
  74.                 0 0 - Disable EDR.
  75.                 0 1 - Report ring for 2 times.
  76.                 1 0 - Report ring for 4 times.
  77.                 1 1 - Report ring for 6 times.
  78.         bits 2-3:
  79.                 0 0 - Disable DTMF tone detection.
  80.                 0 1 - Report "RING" for any DTMF tones.

  94.  4. Fax DRAM receiving (+FZF=3) function is implemented.
  95.     Please use class 2/2.0 compatiable FAX S/W to retrieve stored FAX.
  96.     Be sure to include +FCLASS=2 (or 2.0) in the FAX S/W initialization
  97.     string when used to retrieve FAX out of DRAM.
  98.     This version of F/W is only for beta test.  Please do not use this version
  99.     to receive your important fax.  It may lose FAX pages in some abnormal
  100.     conditions.

  102.  5. Add S register setting to select page size when printing FAX to a laser
  103.     printer.
  104.     S73 bits 4-5:
  105.              0 0 - LETTER SIZE paper. (Default setting) (AT+FZS=0)
  106.              0 1 - LEGAL size paper (AT+FZS=1)
  107.              1 0 - A4 size paper (AT+FZS=2)

  109.  6. Add one S register bit to select printer resolution.
  110.     S73 bit 2:
  111.             0 - 300dpi printer. (Default setting) (AT+FZR=0)
  112.             1 - 150dpi printer. Speed up printing but sacrifice quality.
  113.                 Not recommended. (AT+FZR=1)

  115.  7. Correct the FAX V.17 receiving problem.

  117.  8. Correct false "Remote hangup" problem during V.42 handshaking.
